Food processing enterprises thrive in Rudong
Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu Province, has seen the emergence of many food-processing enterprises in recent years and is currently home to more than 280 such companies, including 37 above designated size.
Among them is Nantong Dongheng Food Co Ltd, an original design manufacturer for Lyeen and Three Squirrels, two renowned food retailers in China.
Li Zhenfeng, the general manager of the company, said that they introduced six advanced fully-automatic production lines at the end of 2022 which, according to Li, have boosted production capacity.
In addition, the company has also established a comprehensive mechanism for quality supervision and control.
Apart from the company, the county has also deepened the rules for food quality management.
For example, Rudong has set up chief quality officers at local food enterprises above designated size to help design personalized quality management plans.
Additionally, local authorities have also boosted the implementation of advanced management models, such as HACCP and ISO22000.
The 88-kilometer coastline in Rudong also means the county is abundant in marine products.
Nantong Beiyurenhe Fisheries Co Ltd is a local enterprise that specializes in processing marine products.
The wine-preserved yellow mud snail produced by the company has been popular for more than 20 years in the domestic market.
According to local authorities, the county has formed an industrial cluster of food processing and will seek to attract more food-processing enterprises.
