3rd Chongchuan Reading Festival kicks off
The third Chongchuan Reading Festival kicked off in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on April 22.
The festival is part of efforts by local authorities to promote the national reading campaign.
Cheng Yuanyuan, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongchuan district committee, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
She said that the festival is a good opportunity to promote reading and further leverage the influence of the national reading campaign.
The ceremony also witnessed the launch of the Yuedu Library, a branch of the Nantong Chongchuan Library, and a map that helps people find libraries in the district.
The Nantong Chongchuan Library has provided services to 3 million people and lent 1.1 million books since its opening.
Chongchuan has in recent years strengthened its efforts to promote the national reading campaign.
For example, the district has over the past year held nearly 1,000 reading activities that were attended by 600,000 people.
In addition, the district has established reading service circles to ensure that all libraries are located within a 15-minute walk from residents.
