Qidong native elected AAM fellow

Yuan Zhenghong, a researcher at Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, was included on the 2023 list of fellows of the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM) released on Feb 15.
AAM is a branch of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), the world's largest and oldest membership organization in the field of life sciences. It is a leader in international microbiology.
AAM conducts rigorous peer reviews every year based on scientific achievements and original contributions that have advanced microbiology.
Out of 148 nominations this year, 65 scientists from 11 countries and regions, including Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Israel, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the United States, were selected.
Yuan, born in Qidong, Nantong, Jiangsu province in 1966, was the only Chinese person to make the list this year and the third scientist from Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University to receive the honor.
Yuan has long been committed to the study of the mechanism and countermeasures of viral infection and chronic disease, and has made a series of important achievements addressing the difficult clinical problem of the hepatitis B virus infection being chronic and not being able to be effectively cured at clinics.
