Steps taken to improve ecological environment in Langshan
The Langshan Scenic Area in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been focusing on improving its ecological environment over the past year.
Protecting trees is one of the measures taken by Langshan authorities.
In 2022, authorities launched a regulation on tree management that defines the approval process of tree transplant and removal.
A total of 112 old trees and 510 key-protected trees in the area have been registered and labelled with signs.
Last year, authorities also introduced 15 tree species such as Chinese Torreya, fir and Sinocalycanthus Chinensis to increase the biodiversity in the area.
In addition, the artificial release of fish, shrimp, and crab has also been implemented in part of the natural water area in Langshan to improve the stability of the ecosystem.
Authorities have also held 25 public activities and distributed nearly 10,000 brochures over the past year to increase people's awareness of ecological protection.
