Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was included in Oriental Outlook magazine's 2022 ranking of the happiest cities in China, local media reported on Dec 22.

This year's city happiness survey campaign started in September and ended on November 30. More than 1.52 million valid questionnaires were collected in the survey.

A total of 200 cities, including 100 cities at the prefecture level and above and 100 cities or districts at the county level took part in the survey.

Factors such as employment rate, resident incomes, quality of life, living environment, public safety, education, transportation and medical care were taken into account in the survey.

The survey of "China's Happiest City" was co-sponsored by Oriental Outlook and think tank Outlook Institution of Xinhua News Agency. It has been carried out for 16 consecutive years and has become the most influential such survey in China.
