Rudong excels in boosting key industries

Rudong, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has made great strides in boosting the development of its key industries - new energy, semi-conductor, new materials, security, science and healthcare, crop protection, intelligent communication, liquified natural gas, and food processing - this year.

So far this year, 53 of the 91 new projects in the county are related to the above industries and are backed by 45 billion yuan ($6.46 billion) in investments.

The county has also been focusing on driving the development of its key industries through intelligent reform and digital transformation.

This year, 40 projects related to key industries have undergone intelligent reform and digital transformation.

Authorities have provided local enterprises that completed their transformation last year with subsidies of over 25 million yuan.

Intelligent reform and digital transformation have also bolstered the science and innovation development of local enterprises.

This year, 152 enterprises in the county have applied to become high-tech companies, the highest in Rudong’s history.

To date, the output of high-tech industries accounts for 47 percent of the total output of industries above the designated size in the county.

In May, authorities also launched policies to attract high-profile talents and entrepreneurs to key industries.

According to the policies, talents who start businesses in Rudong will be provided with financial support of up to five million yuan.
