Rugao writer's work among most recommended in 2022

The children's book Mouse Statue by Shi Ruoxin from Rugao, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, recently made the Recommended List of the Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award for 2022.

The Mouse Statue tells the story of a small mouse who knocks on a smelly door and it turns out the door is a sewer repairman who discovered why the mouse feels so bored. Encouraged by the sewer repairman, the small mouse rebuilds confidence in his life.

The author was born in 1995 and is a member of the Jiangsu Writers Association. She has published works with a combined 10,000 Chinese characters and has won numerous national awards.

The Chen Bochui International Children's Literature Award is named after Chen Bochui, who is reputed as the Andersen of the East. The award is used to honor achievements in children's literature from around the world.

Starting this year, the award will release a Recommended List every year. This year's list was compiled based on 1,149 works from 30 countries, 73 of which finally made the list.
