Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, held a summit to discuss the new trends of the new material industry on Nov 7. 

More than 100 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs attended the meeting. 

New electronic materials, which have been widely used in fields such as communication, energy and national defense, is one of Rugao's pillar industries. 

Rugao is currently home to several successful new material enterprises, including Jiangsu Hongzi New Energy Science & Technology Co Ltd and Nantong Synasia New Material Co Ltd. Sales revenues of the city's new material industry was 45.8 billion yuan ($6.32 billion) in 2021. 

Rugao has also established high-end platforms like the Jinying Industrial Park, introduced major projects related to rare-earth magnets, and built a complete industrial chain. 

Rugao's Changjiang town is a major base for the new material industry and is presently home to 64 new material enterprises that generated 30 billion yuan in sales revenues - two-thirds of the city's total - in 2021.

Japan-funded Morimatsu (Jiangsu) Heavy Industry Co Ltd, which is located in Changjiang town and recognized as one of the city's most promising new material companies, unveiled its professional talent training base on the same day. 

Another two industrialization bases for technological achievements were also inaugurated on the same day. The two bases will play a significant role in advancing the innovation and high-quality development of the city's new material industry.

He Yijun, Party chief of Rugao, noted that the city will roll out a series of favorable policies to attract more high-caliber talents who will be key to speeding up the development of its new material industry.
