The Dongdajie historical block in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has been included in a provincial program aimed at developing the Yangtze River international tourism belt, according to an action plan released by the provincial Department of Culture and Tourism on Oct 30.
Located within the Rugao ancient town, the 210,000-square-meter historical block features traditional residential houses and cultural relics that are of great value for the study of the city's history.
Rugao has in recent years been implementing a series of measures, including carrying out ecological remediation and renovating historical buildings, to advance the integration of culture and tourism.
Developing the Yangtze River international tourism belt is an important part of the province's efforts to bolster its cultural and tourism industry during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
