Wuyao town in Rugao, Nantong, Jiangsu province has made great achievements in various areas over the past decade.

The town's GDP expanded from 1.51 billion yuan ($208.74 million) in 2012 to 3.62 billion yuan in 2021.

Over the past 10 years, revenue in the general public budget rose from 56.71 million yuan to 129.27 million yuan.

Meanwhile, residents' disposable income increased from 18,900 yuan to 40,500 yuan.

The town's industrial structure has been continuously optimized. The proportions of the agriculture, secondary and tertiary industries were adjusted from 7 percent, 53 percent, and 40 percent in 2012 to 5.1 percent, 46 percent, and 48.9 percent in 2021.

In 2021, the output value of the high-tech industry in the town accounted for 22 percent of the total output value of industrial enterprises above designated size.

The town has also increased its focus on environmental protection. Work has been carried out to improve 35 rivers. Sixteen rural sewage treatment facilities were built and sewage treatment capacity has risen from 1,300 metric tons to 3,000 tons.

In addition, 289 million yuan has been spent on people's livelihoods, accounting for 60.9 percent of government expenditure. The coverage of basic endowment insurance has reached 100 percent.
