A batch of new energy vehicles were put into use for transshipment at the finished product warehouse at Nantong Haoyang Port Co Ltd in Haimen district, Nantong, local media reported on Sept 20.

The vehicles are environmentally friendly, energy-saving and emission-reducing, and improve the company's transshipment efficiency by 50 percent.

The 12 new energy vehicles in use were worth a total of 45.6 million yuan ($6.45 million). They have no emissions, no pollution and make less noise. After 90 minutes of charging, each vehicle can run 64 kilometers with a load of 100 metric tons, which saves about 96 liters of diesel and reduces about 250 kilograms of carbon dioxide.

The new energy vehicles have a body length of 13 meters and a width of 3.6 meters. They are used to transport finished products to the river wharf and harbor wharf and ensure normal production.

In addition, the vehicles have a small turning radius and can rotate 360 degrees.

Currently, the daily transportation volume is 30,000 tons.
