Supramax vessels are a class of dry bulk cargo carriers that are used for the transport of unpacked and loose goods such as ores, cement and other commodities.
Based in Chongchuan district – the main urban area of Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – NACKS was established in 1995 by China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, or COSCO and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.
It is the first large-scale Sino-foreign joint venture shipbuilding enterprise in China.
Before the latest additions, NACKS had built and delivered more than 120 vessels – 61,000-ton bulk cargo ships – to date.
