In 2023, its gross regional product reached 138.11 billion yuan ($19.23 billion),  marking a growth of 6.5 percent year-on-year. Its general public budget revenue amounted to 7.10 billion yuan.

Per capita disposable income of residents during the same period witnessed a year-on-year growth of 6 percent.

Rudong county's modern agriculture has also stepped forward. For example, it maintained stability in grain production, and was granted status as a national demonstration county for grain and oil. In addition, it equipped another 69,600 mu (4,640 hectares) with high-efficient facilities for agriculture and the fishery industry. An agricultural and fishery enterprise has been recognized as a national champion, and the county has three provincial champions. It has been listed in the first batch of national demonstration parks for rural industry integration. Rudong county has invested a lot in developing  well-facilitated farmland, the highest figures in area and investment in Jiangsu province. Rudong county is also the only Jiangsu's county listed in a national special reserve program for turning poultry waste into resources.
