Silkworm cocoons in Rugao, Nantong, East China's Zhejiang province, saw a bumper harvest, local media reported on June 8.

This year, the city has bred about 50,000 sheets of silkworm and 2,375 metric tons of cocoons have been produced. The purchase price of spring cocoons was 52 yuan ($7.77) per kilogram, and the city's nearly 30,000 silkworm farmers received a cash income of 130 million for selling cocoons.
Sericulture has long been a traditional industry of Rugao.
To further promote sericulture, the city is exploring the sustainable development of sericulture production, accelerating the development of more varieties and promoting the diversified utilization of resources.
