Fruit plantations in Xinxu village, Moutou town, Rugao, Nantong, Jiangsu province have welcomed harvest season as summer arrives and groups of tourists visit Xinxu village to pick fruits.

Xu Yingguo, owner of a 100-mu (6.67-hectare) peach plantation in Xinxu village, said that the plantation has brought in more than 300,000 yuan ($44,799.87) in income every year since its establishment in the second half of 2020.

In addition, the plantation generated new jobs for locals. A resident hired to do pruning on the plantation can earn over 200 yuan a day.

In Xinxu village, there are four fruit plantations growing blueberries, pears, mulberries, grapes and pitaya.

These fruit plantations have encouraged idle labor to start businesses in the village, helped rural labor find jobs near home, and increased farmers' incomes, said Zhang Jian'an, Party secretary of Xinxu village.
