Women use livestreaming to boost Hai'an's economic rebound
Libao town is currently developing the first women-only e-commerce base in Hai'an – a county-level city administered by the prefecture-level city of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province.
At present, the e-commerce training class has received 72 students, 10 of whom have become livestreamers so as to make a contribution to the region's rural vitalization and its economic rebound.
One of them is Zhang Xiaoju, 32, who majored in advertising in college and went on to work in media and marketing. To better combine her knowledge with the business of breeding hens that produce eggs, that her family is engaged in, Zhang registered a farm brand and promoted it on the internet.
"I joined Douyin and Xun Wei Hai'an platforms in the second half of last year. Starting from 2022, our sales increased month by month, totaling 400,000 yuan ($60,014)," Zhang said. "Now, I've added some Libao specialty products and local fruits and vegetables to the sales list, to help local farmers earn more money."
