Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, has added two shipping routes to Anhui and Jiangxi provinces along the Yangtze River, according to local media reports.
The direct shipping routes between Wuhu port, Anqing port and Chizhou port in Anhui province and Rugao port in Rugao officially opened in January.
The direct routes between major ports such as Jiujiang port and Nanchang port in Jiangxi province and Rugao port successfully opened in March.
The opening of these routes will increase the wharf operating income and better serve hinterland enterprises.
In addition, in 2021 Rugao port was linked with ports upstream of the Yangtze River, such as Chongqing and Wuhan, as well as ports along the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, such as Jining and Huaian, playing an important role as a container hub port.
