Rugao fishery companies seek fortune in fish farming
Jiangsu Hongjiu Aquatic Products Co Ltd in Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, delivered over 10,000 kilograms of live fish to major markets in the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta every day during the Spring Festival holiday.
To ensure daily delivery, Hongjiu uses big data, cloud computing, and Internet of Things to improve sorting lines. Snakehead fish are sorted by equipment according to their weights, reducing the cost of labor and other resources.
In addition, Hongjiu has formed a complete industrial chain that includes breeding, deep processing and sales.

A total of 15,000 fries were put into a 3.5-mu (2,333.33-square meters) fishpond, and by the end of the year it is expected to produce about 35,000 kg of snakehead fish. Each fishpond can generate a net income of over 80,000 yuan ($12,644), according to the person in charge of the breeding base.
Jiangsu Suyuan Food Co also experienced a peak in fish sales during the Spring Festival holiday. Since the first day of the Chinese New Year, more than 100,000 kg of live fish have been sold, said Yin Qi, vice-general manager of Suyuan Food Co.
Recently, the company's live fish and frozen sliced raw fish have benefited from cooperations with large domestic food supply chain management companies and catering chain groups such as Anjoy Food and the Ding Dong shopping platform.
