Qidong-based firm expands sales channels for agricultural products
The Jiangsu provincial department of agriculture and rural affairs recently announced its list of digital agricultural bases. Qidong Xincheng Agriculture Development Co Ltd, based in the county-level city of Qidong in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, was included in the list.
Engaged in the development and marketing of agricultural and sideline products, Qidong Xincheng Agriculture Development is a service enterprise of the "Vegetable Basket" project – a project launched by the State government to increase food supplies by increasing the production of foodstuffs.
Relying on its e-commerce platforms, the firm promotes and recommends Qidong's agricultural and sideline products online to increase sales and visibility and raise farmers from poverty.
The company invested 80 million yuan ($12.6 million) in the building of an agricultural product distribution center and a trading center. With the establishment of a cold chain logistics system, an agricultural product inspection system and a product traceability system, it is now capable of procurement, sorting, packaging, security inspection, and distribution of agricultural products.
On June 11, Qidong Xincheng Agriculture Development saw its first direct sales store supported by the online platform open to the public, creating a new marketing network with lower costs and higher efficiency.
