A depiction of a phoenix was created on a farm using a variety of vegetables in Dushiyuan village, Shigang town, Tongzhou district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 18.

The 10,000-square-meter farm, named Laojia Caidi (literally "hometown vegetable field"), is a part of the village's rural tourism project – Shiwai Taoyuan (literally "countryside outside the city").

In addition to vegetables, Laojia Caidi also has footpaths and corridors in an effort to integrate the farming experience with vegetable picking, e-commerce sales and delivery and to further increase the agricultural landscapes and economic values.

Dushiyuan village is named after a temple built during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) and is famous for its fishing culture, which was featured in three poems written by Wen Tianxiang, a patriot and poet in the Song Dynasty (960-1279).

To boost rural revitalization, the village launched the Shiwai Taoyuan project focusing on traditional culture and rural tourism. In addition to farmland, a labyrinth consisting of green plants and flowers, an agricultural science popularization base, an e-commerce platform, unique homestays and other facilities are under construction.
