Wang Jian, the deputy director of Haimen district in Nantong took up the role of a livestreaming host during a promotional activity at Longxing Plaza on Nov 6.

During the three-hour livestream, Wang introduced more than 60 locally produced commodities, including home textiles, creative redwood products, Haimen goat meat, rice, and snacks.

She also spoke to the audience about Haimen's history, culture and natural resources and invited people from across the country to visit Haimen.

The event was broadcasted simultaneously on three livestreaming platforms which attracted nearly 700,000 viewers in total.

"It is an innovative way to promote companies and products. This means a lot to us traditional food businesses," said Jiang Hangjun, the founder of a local stewed meat and fowl brand, who also expressed his gratitude to the local government for organizing such an event.

Officials said that more efforts will be made to facilitate cooperation between livestreaming platforms and businesses that produce local specialties, so as to expand their sales channels and enhance the city's popularity.
