The revenue from overseas contract projects and labor service cooperation in Haimen district, Nantong maintained stable growth from January to August, despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, local media outlets reported.

During the first eight months of the year, Haimen's revenue from overseas contract projects and labor service cooperation increased 10.03 percent year-on-year to $599.31 million, ranking first among districts, county, and county-level cities in Nantong.

A total of 357 workers were dispatched overseas during this period, increasing the total number of overseas workers from Haimen to 3,219 by the end of August, up 2.45 percent year-on-year.

In addition, new deals related to overseas contract projects and labor services were signed, worth a combined value of $77.83 million, during this period.

To reduce risks and to overcome difficulties caused by the overseas spreading of COVID-19, officials from relevant departments have visited companies that operate overseas contract projects and offer overseas labor services to learn about their needs.

The local commerce department has also worked with the district's health commission to prioritize the vaccination of people who have to work overseas when vaccines are in shortage.

A total of 642 workers from 11 companies have received their COVID-19 vaccinations during this period. Officials said that the timely vaccinations have ensured that workers were able to go overseas on schedule.
