The Jiangsu Provincial Government recently granted 14 provincial administrative powers to 54 development zones across the province, including Haimen Economic and Technological Development Zone.

It was the first time that the provincial government has delegated provincial-level power to local development zones. The move is part of efforts to give full play to the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone in leading innovation and reform.

The 54 development zones, which were recognized as coordinated innovative development zones of the FTZ, are expected to share preferential policies with the FTZ, complementing each other in functions and advantages to become a new growth engine of the province.

A total of seven development zones in Nantong made the list. The other six were Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area, Nantong National High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Hai'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Su-Xi-Tong Science and Technology Park, as well as Tongzhou Bay Economic Development Zone.
