Construction on 16 industrial projects in Haimen district, Nantong started on Sept 23.

The projects have a combined investment of 17.1 billion yuan ($2.65 billion) and are involved in various fields, such as smart manufacturing, new-generation information technology, as well as the headquarters economy.

The commencement ceremony was held at the construction site of Haimen Center, which is a complex consisting of a five-star hotel, regional headquarters, office buildings, and a shopping plaza, covering a total area of 120,000 square meters.

The center, which is being sponsored and built by Nantong Sanjiang Properties Group with 5 billion yuan in investment, is expected to be a new landmark project in Haimen.

The government of Haimen district has been working since the beginning of this year to promote targeted investment attraction and aims to sign  agreements on at least 25 new major projects by the end of the year.

Of that, Haimen Economic and Technological Development Zone is aiming to attract one project worth 10 billion yuan and two worth 5 billion yuan each, while Haimen Port New Area is aiming to attract one project worth more than 5 billion yuan.
