An art museum named after prestigious Chinese poet, scholar, and translator Bian Zhilin (1910-2000) opened in his hometown of Haimen district in Nantong on Sept 14.

The first China Haimen Bian Zhiling Poem Competition was also launched that day.

Bian was born on Dec 8, 1910 in Tangjia town, which has now been merged as Linjiang town. His poems distilled the essence of ancient Chinese poems and modern western poems, making him a representative of the "crescent school", an important part of the New Culture Movement in the early 20th century.

The museum spans about 900 square meters and displays Bian's life stories, the daily items he used, as well as his works.

It is part of the Haimen government's efforts to promote its unique culture, enhance its reputation, and boost its development.
