An online signing ceremony was held on Sept 8 for the establishment of friendly relations between Hai'an Qutang High School in Hai'an, a county-level city administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province, and Sekolah Menengah Persendirian San Min (Suwa) in Malaysia.

Hai'an Qutang High School is a key modern high school in Jiangsu with a long history and high-quality education and teaching. Sekolah Menengah Persendirian San Min (Suwa) enjoys a strong reputation in Malaysia after nearly 100 years of history.

After the signing, the both parties will deepen cooperation in teaching and exchanges, broadening students' horizons and promoting the spread of Chinese culture overseas.

Overseas Chinese education is an important way for the majority of overseas Chinese, especially youths of Chinese origin, to learn about Chinese language and culture. As a country that maintains a complete Chinese education system, Malaysia has a solid foundation for such education.

In addition to its high-quality education, Nantong is also famous for its overseas Chinese. Some 100,000 overseas Chinese from Nantong are distributed throughout over 120 countries and regions and play a significant role in promoting Chinese culture and Sino-foreign exchange.

In recent years, Nantong has been making full use of its overseas Chinese education base and has taken the initiative to carry out exchanges and cooperation with overseas schools.
