Farmers in Zhaoming village in Rugao have had their lives changed since they started planting peaches a few years ago.
The fruit has boosted incomes and even helped with rural revitalization.
According to part-time farmer Sun Meilan, she gets to earn about 80 yuan ($12) per day helping out in the peach orchards.
At present, the village's peach plantation measures more than 33 hectares. The harvest season runs from June to August, during which some 80 metric tons of peaches worth 10 million yuan are picked.
"My orchard measures about 3,300 square meters and can produce 7,500 kilograms of fruit," said a villager named Lu Jinhua.
Most of Lu's peaches are sold to Guangzhou and Shenzhen in South China's Guangdong province, while some extremely high-quality fruits will be sold overseas.
In addition to peach plantation, the village has also set its eyes on rural tourism.
"We are planning to turn the village into a tourist destination for sightseeing and fruit picking to boost the village's economic development," said local officials.
