The Runfeng Orchard in Shigang town, Tongzhou district – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – enjoyed a bumper harvest of yellow peaches this year, delighting the orchard's owner Ji Dong.

"This year, the fruits are particularly big, each weighing about 300 grams. The yield per mu (about 0.067 hectare) is about 2,000 kilograms, and the total yield should reach 40,000 kg," Ji said.

However, inconveniences in transportation and sales brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic have Ji worried.

"Sales channels haven't opened completely and it is inconvenient for us to go out to market our fruits," Ji added. "We have tried hard to sell, but there are still a lot of yellow peaches backlogged."

After hearing the news, the agricultural department of Tongzhou got in contact with the Tongzhou branch of China Post and talked about how to solve the issue.

An agreement was signed between Tongzhou Post and the Runfeng Orchard that the yellow peaches would be sold on an online platform built by China Post, without any service or freight charges.

Since the beginning of this year, the district's agricultural department has contacted new agricultural entities such as family farms and rural cooperatives, arranged for express companies to provide door-to-door delivery services for them, and solved the sales difficulties faced by local agricultural specialties.
