New air freight line Jiangsu JD Air Cargo Co Ltd got the green light by the Civil Aviation Administration of China on Aug 3, with its base to be set up in Nantong Xingdong International Airport – located in the Tongzhou district of Nantong city, in East China's Jiangsu province.

JD Airlines is reportedly being jointly funded by Suqian JD Zhanrui Enterprise Management Co Ltd and Nantong Airport Group, with a total investment of 600 million yuan ($92.7 million).

At present, only three express enterprises in China – SF, China Post and YTO Express – have founded their own logistics airlines. As the third private cargo airline, JD Airlines will give JD Group – one of China's leading e-commerce giants – independent air transport capacity.
