Advanced equipment manufacturing drives Haimen's growth
Haimen district in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province has formed a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial cluster featuring marine engineering equipment and high-end ships, industrial robots, as well as new-energy equipment, according to local media outlets reports.
A total of 159 high-end manufacturing companies above designated size, which are companies with an annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($3.09 million) and more, generated a combined taxable sales revenue of more than 10 billion yuan from January to May, accounting for 20 percent of the total of industrial companies above designated size.
The Haimen shipbuilding center of China Merchants Industry Holdings Co alone generated more than 1.7 billion yuan in taxable sales revenue over the first five months of this year.
A number of cruise ships, LNG vessels, and offshore engineering platforms built by the center have been delivered, launched or are under construction.
Since the beginning of this year, the district government has been working to build two landmark industrial chains involving marine engineering and ships, as well as industrial robots, according to Yu Jun, director of the district's commission of development and reform.
In addition, the district has been accelerating the construction and expansion of its luxury cruise ship manufacturing base, as well as industrial parks for robots, equipment, and automobile parts.
Cooperation between industrial chains has also been promoted by boosting the smart transformation of the marine engineering equipment, high-tech ship, new-type electricity equipment, and high-end special-use equipment sectors.
In addition, the product structure, production technique and procedure, as well as services in the automobile parts and precision machinery parts sectors will be optimized.
