Rudong county hosts first nighttime recruitment fair

A recruitment fair was held on the evenings of May 25-29 in Rudong county – administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu province – reportedly attracting more than 2,000 job hunters on the first day alone.
The jobs fair was held for the first time at nighttime in the county, so as especially help out employees who wanted to change employment but who were otherwise occupied in the daytime. Nearly 100 companies participated in the event and alongside their representatives were career guidance professionals.
Zhu Xiangyu from Fengli town attended the fair to look for a position closer to home. Having to work in the daytime as a purchasing clerk in Qidong city, he found it very convenient to go job hunting at night.
"I think this is very innovative and the atmosphere is more relaxed, enabling me to have a more in-depth conversation with the company," he said.
Zhongtong Chengfei Wind Power Equipment Jiangsu Co Ltd, a developer and producer of offshore wind turbine blades, was in urgent need of people to fill 30 openings. HR manager Zhao Minmin received many resumes for job seekers.
"This kind of event has greatly improved the company's recruitment efficiency, allowing us to find suitable job applicants in the shortest possible time," Zhao said.
The local human resources and social security department has held 24 job fairs so far, providing 42,359 jobs. According to the latest statistics, as of April there were 3,404 newly employed people in Rudong, accounting for 42.55 percent of the annual recruitment target.
