Three expats from Finland and Estonia presented a pennant to the Party branch of Hefeng community, which is within the jurisdiction of Yongxing sub-district in Chongchuan district, Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on May 10, praising the community's swift response to their urgent vaccination needs.
The three expats came to China to work on the interior decoration of a polar cruise liner in Nantong. They planned to return home soon but hadn't been vaccinated, which made them anxious.
Through the early publicity of COVID-19 vaccines, they learned about the vaccination process and expressed their confidence in Chinese vaccines and a willingness to get vaccinated.
Upon learning of the situation, Yongxing sub-district prioritized their needs and Hefeng community assigned dedicated volunteers as interpreters.
With the assistance of volunteers, the three expats were vaccinated and stayed for a 30-minute observation session after having their temperatures measuring, showing their health codes, and signing an informed consent and notification letter.
They enjoyed the same treatment as Chinese citizens, for which they were grateful. "China is a safe country that is doing an excellent job with its COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control efforts. People can travel anywhere in China without worry," said Raetsep Taisto, one of the three expats.
"Now that I'm vaccinated, I can return home to visit my family without worry," he added.
