The local Women's Federation, together with a number of municipal departments in the county-level city of Hai'an – administered by Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province – held a women-only jobs fair on March 8.
Many female job seekers traveled to the event, to learn about the positions they wanted to fill in detail.
Gu Mingling, an unemployed resident of Dagong town, said that she had a job before and now wanted to change to a more suitable position after having a baby.
"In addition to its nice environment and varied options, the job fair also provides high-quality services," Gu said.
The fair reportedly attracted the participation of 80 enterprises, offering 2,656 job opportunities in 527 posts.
Xu Hongmei, personnel manager of Nantong Huiyuan Group, said that the company had eight employment categories – including child-care workers, teachers and shopping guides – and 60 job opportunities for the job seekers. In addition, the company has also customized a series of preferential policies for its female workers.
"Our company has adopted double shifts," Xu added. "Employees who take the afternoon shift can get off work at 2:30 pm, which provides great convenience for those women with children."
Several activities were launched on the same day for women's rights protection, providing job seekers with a free consultation service on relevant policies and laws, including social insurance, employment, self-employment and labor rights protection.
