Changle town makes China's top 500 towns list
Changle town in Haimen district, Nantong was included in the 2020 list of China's top 500 towns in terms of economic strength, which was recently released by Xinhua Net.
The town is the only entry to the list in Haimen, ranking 453rd.
Official statistics show that the town is home to 7,526 mobile residents, with about 110,000 working there. By the end of 2020, it had more than 800 companies, including 40 with an annual revenue of over 20 million yuan ($2.9 million).
Famous for being the hometown of Zhang Jian, a well-known local business magnate and leading academic in modern China, the town has worked hard to attract investment and push forward rural rejuvenation.
In 2020, the town built 733 hectares of high-standard farm fields, two rice-wheat rotation demonstration areas, and a 13-hectare greenhouse gardening base.
Three leading agricultural companies were established, while five large-scale agricultural projects were inked, receiving 2.23 billion yuan in total investment.
