More than 30 expats living in Nantong, Jiangsu province took part in the "Golden Autumn, Charming Haimen" Sino-Foreign Cultural Exchange activity in Haimen district on Nov 21.

The activity was hosted by the information office and foreign affairs office of the Nantong government, which helps foreigners learn more about Haimen and Nantong.

During the activity, expats from 11 countries, including France, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan and Iran, along with journalists of a dozen domestic and overseas media outlets, explored Haimen's culture and history, and learned about the district's economic and social achievements.

During the event, the participants visited the former residence of Zhang Jian, a renowned industrialist and scholar in modern China, and a century-old brewery founded by Zhang. The expats also tried their hand at producing traditional Chinese rice wine.

"The Yisheng wine in Haimen is completely different from the wine I drank in France. And it tastes really good," said a participant from France.

During the activity, the expats were also treated to folk performances and exhibitions of exquisite Chinese accessories from ancient times.

"I've fell in love with Haimen over the past seven years of living in the district," said Balaji Biradar from India.

"It's beautiful and clean, and has a number of attractions. I often take photos of charming scenery and share them with my family," Biradar added.
