The first China Rudong Donghu Tourism Festival opened in Rudong county, Nantong on Oct 17. The three-day event will provide the visitors with fantastic seascapes and delicious seafood.

After the opening ceremony, splendid water shows were staged and ignited excitement among the spectators. A 10-kilometer cycling activity around Donghu Lake involving professional and amateur cyclists, followed the water shows.

Lu Wenjie is an amateur cyclist. On the day, he participated in the activity with members of his family. Unlike other participants, during the 10-km ride, he stayed with his 5-year-old child. Lu hoped to teach his child to handle things from beginning to end through his practical actions.

"Though a little bit tired, we are very happy," Lu laughed. "The environment here is quite good, great for family camping and fishing."

The tourism festival has multiple features and rich content, including a lake-tour health run, a photography exhibition about Donghu Lake, a traditional fishing competition and a gourmet cooking competition. The cooking competition will be held in Bencha ancient town on Oct 19.

At present, Donghu Lake camping resort base is under way, and the development of Bencha ancient town has entered a new stage and is scheduled to open to the public on May 1, 2021.
