The Intellectual Property Office of Jiangsu Province released on Sept 18 a list of demonstration counties (cities and districts) to be involved in the construction of strong intellectual property (IP) rights. Chongchuan district in Nantong was included on the list.

So far, Chongchuan has successfully applied to be a pilot and demonstration area for a national IP powerful county project, an IP demonstration area in Jiangsu and a provincial IP service industry cluster covering national and provincial levels.

Since the IP functions were transferred to Chongchuan district market supervision administration at the beginning of 2019, the creation, application, protection and service of intellectual property has advanced in orderly fashion.

The district has had 929 new invention patents, 20 new enterprises that implement the Management Regulations on Enterprise Intellectual Property, four national IP demonstration and dominant enterprises, and has cultivated two enterprises that have won the China Patent Excellence Award.

Over 30 million yuan ($4.4 million) of funds were issued to the enterprises and public institutions in Chongchuan district as support and awards. In addition, the district also helped eight companies obtain low-interest bank loans through intellectual property pledge financing to overcome difficulties created by the COVID-19 pandemic.
