The Nantong Rice Industry Alliance was established in Hai'an on Sept 19. Zhang Hongcheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Zhang Hao, deputy Party secretary of Hai'an, attended the unveiling ceremony.

According to Zhu Jinhua, director of Nantong's agriculture and rural affairs bureau, the alliance was established to promote transformation and upgrading of the rice industry in Nantong and expand the influence of Nantong's high-quality rice in Jiangsu province and China.

Zhu hoped that the alliance can help rice growers and processing enterprises solve difficulties through succinct and practical measures. It should also hold various rice exhibitions, organize alliance companies to study and visit advanced areas of rice production and processing, and showcase the successful experience of advanced enterprises, building a superior industrial chain from rice planation to sales.

Zhang Chenghong and Wang Cailin, chief rice breeding expert in Jiangsu province, made speeches at the ceremony.
