Work on Heming Park, the first wetland landscape theme park in Rudong county, Nantong, started in August 2020. With a total investment of 400 million yuan ($59 million), the park is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2022.

The park covers about 1.1 million square meters, including 238,000 sq m of water area and 871,000 sq m of land.

"The area we are constructing will be a vibrant urban area south of Weihe Road," said Cai Wei, an official from Rudong housing and urban-rural development bureau. "Athletic facilities will be installed in the area after the land construction is completed, including tennis, badminton and sandpit rock climbing."

In addition to the urban area, four extra functional zones for industrial sites, ecological environment and riverside landscapes will also be included. Wetland landscapes, a fitness loop, and facilities for recreation and leisure will be available to meet citizens' various needs.

As well, a large gallery bridge will be constructed to connect the five functional zones and provide more experiences for water-loving visitors.

Focusing on ecological restoration, the project at Heming Park will maximize the preservation of original large-scale vegetation, rivers and ditches in the process of design and construction, make use of the original terrain and landforms to create a wetland ecosystem integrating deep water, shallow water, marshes and landscapes.

The park will also build a flower area of nearly 180,000 sq m, to create a landscape effect with different flowers blooming in all seasons.

The entire park will accommodate about 10,000 people, and six parking lots will be built outside it to hold 800 cars and 40 buses at the same time.
