Tongzhou grain and material reserve bureau achieves national recognition
The national grain and material reserve bureau released a list of 100 advanced units in the national grain and material reserve system on July 30. Jiangsu province had two county-level bureaus recognized. Tongzhou district bureau was the only advanced unit on the list in Nantong.
In recent years, the Tongzhou district grain and material reserve bureau has prioritized ensuring the security of food and material reserves and striven to bring benefits to both food producers and consumers.
The district now has 40,000 tons of district-level grain reserve, an increase of 68 percent compared with the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-15). It has optimized the reserve ratio of wheat and rice, increased the stocks of rice and edible oil, and enhanced its ability to regulate market supply.
Facing changes in the functioning of material reserves, the bureau is striving to construct a better system. It has improved regional emergency support and set up district-level emergency supply warehouses since its establishment. Over the past two years, the bureau has stockpiled 20 categories of emergency supplies, an advance recognized by the provincial Party committee and government.
In order to avoid farmers' difficulties in selling grains, the bureau communicates with them to set up appointments and door-to-door acquisitions. Four grain after-delivery service centers have been built to enhance service level and storage capacity.
At the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan, that capacity in Tongzhou district was 90,000 tons; now it has risen to 120,000 tons. Further, digital management has been realized in four State-owned grain purchasing and marketing enterprises in Nantong.
