Tongzhou highway network center to come into use

Construction has finished on the highway network center of Tongzhou district, Nantong, Jiangsu province and will begin operation tests soon, local media reported on June 10.

The center, covering a total of 101 square meters, includes a large screen display area, a monitoring and command area, and an operating area.

More monitoring points will be installed on major highways in the future. By the end of October, 46 monitoring points are expected to be installed on the district's highway network, compared with 35 previously. They will mainly be set up on 228 national highway, as well as 335, 356, 510 and 222 provincial highways.

Apart from daily monitoring, unusual highway conditions will be caught and reported immediately, and quick action will be taken to deal with emergencies.

The center will manage 11 national and provincial highways, stretching a distance of 150 kilometers in total, as well as 50 county-level and village-level roads, which stretch over 440 km in total.

In addition, the district-level center will connect with the municipal center to form a complete highway network after official operation.
