Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, was honored as an "outstanding county (city/district) in terms of high-quality development" during a provincial-level video conference held on April 27.

It was the only region in Nantong to win the honor. Gu Guobiao, secretary of Hai'an's Party committee, was also honored for his contributions to the county-level city's development.

Lou Qinjian, secretary of the provincial Party committee, said that this year is significant in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and to the province's development overall.

All regions in the province are encouraged to innovate to keep pace with the changing times, set specific goals, and reduce the impact of the novel coronavirus on local development.

During the conference, Gu said that although the city has won the honor, more targeted measures should be taken to boost local development and improve weaknesses.
