The ground breaking ceremony for a modern innovative center for agricultural technology was held in Gangzha district, Nantong, Jiangsu province on April 15. It was attended by local government officials and experts from the Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 

The innovative center has received more than 92.5 million yuan ($13.08 million) in total investment. The first phase of the center, covering 9,319 square meters, mainly consists of laboratories, research stations, dormitories and supporting facilities.

The center is expected to promote local agricultural technological development, gather high-level talents, integrate innovative resources and provide support to rural revitalization plans. 

Zhao Wenbin, vice-mayor of Nantong, said that the innovative center will serve as a platform to boost and facilitate the city’s development with modern agriculture. The local academy of agricultural sciences and government departments will offer support to the project’s construction, and ensure its quick completion and operation.
