Construction on an automotive suspension and automatic transmission manufacturing plant is progressing smoothly in Changjiang town, Rugao, a county-level city in Nantong, local media reported on April 1.
The project has received 2 billion yuan ($282.6 million) in investment and is expected to produce 500,000 sets of electric air suspensions and 150,000 sets of automatic transmissions each year. Annual sales revenue is expected to reach 3 billion yuan.
According to Sheng Yong, a spokesperson for the construction company, the external construction has been finished and the interior decoration and equipment installation are currently underway. This has taken just a year since the signing of the project agreeement due to the high efficiency of local government services.
"The industrial park designated staff members to provide us with guidance and relevant services on the site selection, construction, administrative procedures and building supporting facilities," said Sheng.
"Sometimes the staff members even worked overtime to help us acquire relevant certifications as quickly as possible. We are grateful for their supports," Sheng added.
At the site, workers are accelerating the speed of construction to make up for delays resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak.
"We will work to ensure all engineering structures are completed before May and the main plant, processing workshop, warehouse, office building and canteen will be built according to the schedule," Sheng said.
