Three Hai'an villages win national titles

The villages of Ailing, Zhouwu, and Jiangliu in Hai'an, a county-level city in Nantong, have been named "national forest villages" on a list recently issued by the State Forestry and Grassland Administration.

Ailing village has established a working group specializing in rural green construction and recruited 32 experienced workers to protect and manage trees in the village. The village is adhering to the strategy of rural revitalization and investing a lot of capital into green construction.

A total of 209 mu (14 hectares) of green land has been introduced in Ailing village, bringing its rate of green land up to 40 percent. It has 5.2 kilometers of green belts along main roads and 5.6 km along rivers. 90 percent of local houses are now surrounded by green land as well.

Zhouwu village has made green construction a priority and has established an improved system and introduced several new regulations to increase the quality of management.

In addition, villagers are encouraged to plant trees in front of their own houses, and a variety of trees have been cultivated in the 1,000-mu field of the Zhouwu Seedling Base.

Jiangliu village has purchased over 20 species of tree, including camphor trees, cherry trees, pine trees, and more, over the past year. Around 108,000 trees are now growing around the village, covering an area of 26,800 square meters.

A plantation has also been built for a type of hazel tree native to Nantong that is often used to make furniture in the city. It is the largest hazel tree plantation in Nantong, and around 16,500 trees are now growing there.
