Tong Guang Group (TGG), a leading cable manufacturer in Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, aims to bring in 4 billion yuan ($574.8 million) this year despite the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, said a spokesperson for the company.

The company has received orders valued at nearly 700 million yuan since the beginning of this year, mostly involving communication, electric power and new energy. A surge in orders is expected when the outbreak is over.

"Our focus will be on the development of 5G products this year. We are currently holding more than 50 million yuan-worth of orders in this field," said Li Hua, the company's deputy general manager.

"To meet the large demand, we have resumed 80 percent of our production capacity by recruiting more workers and intensifying training sessions," he added.

A number of new production machines have also been introduced and are expected to help increase 30 percent of the current production capacity.

According to Zhang Zhong, chairman of the company, employees at technical and sales departments have kept in contact with clients online and by phone during the outbreak to stay up to date on their needs and new requirements.

The sales revenue of Tong Guang was 2.5 billion yuan last year. That number is expected to reach 4 billion yuan as the company plans to expand its industrial chain to 5G business, anti-fire optical cables and seabed electric cables.
