A total of 14 major projects valued at over 1 billion yuan ($142.28 million) each had resumed construction at Yangkou Port in Rudong county, Nantong, Jiangsu province by the end of Feb 21.

The Jinguang Rudong Industrial Base, which is expected to receive 45 billion yuan in investment, started construction in September 2019. Construction on the base's No 1 workshop has already begun, and four production lines are expected to be completed and begin operating by the end of this year.

"We'll try our best to meet this year's construction goals, though construction is currently behind schedule," said Ge Jianjun, deputy manager of the project.

According to Ge, 50 local workers resumed construction work on Feb 21, and workers will continue to flow in after their quarantine period ends, with the help of the local management committee.

The Tongkun (Yangkou Port) polyester integration project began on Jan 2 and received 20 billion yuan in investment. Twenty percent of its subgrade construction has already been completed. Construction on the project resumed on Feb 21 and the subgrade is expected to be completed by June 1.

Workers returning from other regions must go through a rigorous screening process and quarantine period before returning to work in order to prevent infection, said a local official.
