The daily throughput of the PetroChina Jiangsu Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Station, located at Yangkou Port in Rudong county, Nantong, increased from 5.5 million cubic meters to 32 million cu m on Feb 17.

The loading amount of LNG rose by 50 percent that same day, with five production lines operating simultaneously at a high load. The increase in Yangkou Port's LNG throughput is meant to ensure it can offer a steady supply of goods to the Yangtze River Delta region.

The port's LNG station plays a significant role in China's nationwide LNG supply system. A number of enterprises have stopped production due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus, resulting in a drop of LNG throughput, according to Chen Wei, deputy manager of Yangkou Port's operation center.

Detailed plans and scientific measures have been adopted to speed up production in an attempt to meet the growing demand for LNG as downstream enterprises resume work.

The port's production technology division is taking sailing schedules and storage capacity into consideration as it makes plans for LNG throughput. The operation center is now using pumps and gasifiers three times a day to increase throughput.

The port's maintenance division investigated equipment and took measures to maintain smooth operations, despite the fact that only four workers are on duty.
