Several police officers in Qidong, a county-level city in Nantong, Jiangsu province, received steaming hot food from warm-hearted local residents on Feb 16.
With the box of wontons, tremella soup and ginger decoction was an anonymous note which read "Hope the hot soup can help you keep you warm."
Surveillance footage reveals that a young couple put the box of food in front of the station gate and left without saying a word.
Coincidentally, one policeman saw a video on Douyin, known as Tik Tok overseas, featuring a local resident giving the same soup to someone else.
The police officers deduced that the couple was Fan Yi and her husband. They contacted the two good Samaritans and thanked them for what they did.
Fan had been sending hot food to local police stations and hospitals for four days before Feb 16. She would buy food at 6:30 am every day and was busy cooking until 8 or 9 pm.
Fan's son voluntarily decided to use his New Year lucky money to buy ingredients for his mom upon hearing about her plans to cook food for those fighting the epidemic.
Fan expressed pride in her son for expressing gratitude to those fighting for his safety.
