A hanging racetrack officially opened to the public on Jan 12 in Haimen, a county-level city in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province.

The racetrack is part of an urban complex built at the former site of the city's government building. It covers an area of about 1.87 hectares and has a total floor area of 39,000 square meters.

The complex revolves around sports, culture and entertainment, and has received 200 million yuan ($29.02 million) in investment.

The 400-meter racetrack is located on the roof of a three-floor building. It includes a red track for running and an orange track for walking.

The roof also includes a large glass fish pool capable of storing 24 cubic meters of water and is filled with a variety of colorful fish. In addition, an 800-sq-m venue for kart racing and riding, a five-a-side football field, and two basketball courts are currently under construction.

The racetrack is currently open to the public from 7 am to 9 pm, and each visitor can get one free ticket at the entrance on a daily basis.

Officials said the entire complex is expected to be completed and start operating by the end of this year.
